We are a family owned and operated small business. Merrison was founded in June 2010 by William Merriman and son Andrew Merriman. Together they have a combined total of 40+ years experience working with government agencies, government contractors, and private industry. This vast experience gives us unique insight into anticipating, planning, and mitigating complex problems.
Currently serving as Merrison's Executive Advisor, he has over ten years experience as a consultant in addition to thirty years in Federal government positions, the last twelve at the senior executive level. He has managed multi-million dollar programs in positions requiring administrative, financial management, program evaluation, budget, and planning skills.
Since March 2000, Mr. Merriman has worked as an independent consultant, most recently with Jefferson Consulting assisting the Federal Acquisition Institute in preparation of its annual report on the federal acquisition workforce and in development of an algorithm by which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) could better estimate its acquisition workforce requirements. Prior to working in the private sector, Mr. Merriman held a distinguished government career. He served as Deputy Inspector General, Department of Veterans Affairs from 1991 to the March 2000. Additionally, he held the positions of Director of Audit Planning and Technical Support; Director of Planning; and Special Assistant to the Inspector General Department of Defense from 1982 to 1991.
Mr. Merriman holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Wilkes University; an MBA from George Washington University and is a graduate of Harvard's Program for Senior Managers in Government. He was awarded the rank of Distinguished Executive by President Clinton for his work as acting Inspector General of the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
Mr. Merriman's career began in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966.
Spent 2 years working in the commercial Informational Technology industry before obtaining his Bachelors degree in Information Systems in 2002. He immediately started his career with Northrop Grumman supporting a Department of Defense travel system. He began to work his way up through the ranks and transitioned to a Development Team Lead on a Federal Government travel program in 2004. He managed a 7-person development team, where he gained hands on experience with creating/configuring apache, SSL Certificates, E-Authentication, web-services, financial, travel, and HR system interfaces.
Just two years later he was promoted to Development Manager where he lead a 16-person team in design, coding, testing, implementation, and configuration management for an end-to-end integrated travel and accounting system.
In 2008 Mr. Merriman was named Technical Director for the entire travel program. He spent the next four and a half years managing the development, test, CM, requirements, operations, and engineering teams for that program.
In February 2013 Mr. Merriman accepted the position of President and CEO of Merrison Technologies, supporting the Office of System Modernization (OSM) in the OCIO at Smithsonian Institution, Office of Contracting (OCon) at Smithsonian Institution, CACI Inc.
